Mistake-jets at sea

The dilettante Defense "reporters" over at DOD-Buzz have an interesting read on the first, official F-35B ship deployment."Navy Prepares Amphibs for F-35B’s First Deployment in 2018
by Kris Osborn"
. DOD Buzz not coming up on my Internet machine at the moment so find the link yourself. (Gosh, when is the UK going to get theirs on ship?).

I am sure the flight control system will work wonderful for launch and recovery.

Challenges:

1. Meeting the JORD requirement.
2. Reserve fuel / fuel consumption.
3. Thermal issues of all kinds.
4. Combat weight, note to date: no known operational empty weight.
5. Crowing about the network? Well, it isn't s stealth aircraft with all that. Network nodes can be geo-located.
6. Not as good as the Harrier at CAS.
7. Note also the disclaimer in the article that it won't be like a Harrier. Got that right on so many levels.
8. Extreme cost per flying hour.
9. Mission capability rates.
10. Survivability vs. red force in exercises.
11. Safety.
12. Again...JORD.

Put some Typhoons out their as red force and they will stomp the guts out of this POS.

Refresher.
